Berea police continue their fight against crime.

tEmployee arrested

A Morningside man was lucky to have discovered an ex-employee walking through his premises late last Monday night.

According to Lieutenant PN Naidoo, Communications Officer at Berea SAPS, the complainant found the ex-employee on his premises in Ferndale Avenue and called for the police who responded and searched the man. “We found the complainant’s house, garage and car keys on the employee,” said Naidoo. The 30-year-old suspect was arrested for theft and detained at Berea SAPS.

Burglar nabbed

A man awoke to noises and was looking around his Botanic Gardens home in the early hours of Tuesday morning when he noticed a man trying to open the window.

“He phoned the police who responded immediately. When they arrived the suspect was half way into the house,” said Lt Naidoo.

The suspect started to run as soon as he spotted the police. “He ran into the neighbours yard, then onto the road. The complainant and the police chased him and apprehended him near the Stratford Hall residence for DUT students,” he said.

The 26-year-old man was taken to Berea SAPS where he was charged with attempted housebreaking.

Suspects caught red-handed

A Musgrave family is lucky to have recovered jewellery and goods after Berea SAPS and Blue Security caught two burglars red handed last Tuesday morning.

According to Lt Naidoo the two men broke into the Essenwood Road home and Blue Security and the police were alerted by a neighbour. “Blue Security and the police responded and inspected the premises and found two suspects on the premises. They were searched and found in possession of jewellery and watches.”

The home owner arrived shortly after and identified his goods. The 24 and 26-year-old suspects were arrested for house breaking and theft and detained at Berea SAPS.
