Good arrests by Umbilo police over the past week.

Assault

ON 20 March Umbilo SAPS officers arrested a man for assault.

Officers received a complaint via radio control and on arrival at the scene at King Dinuzulu Road police were handed the suspect by a security guard who later made a statement alleging that he witnessed the suspect assaulting the victim who had to be taken to hospital as a result of injuries sustained.

The man was arrested and detained, and the case is under investigation.

Buglary residential

ON 19 March at 9pm, officers arrested a man in Kildare Road for breaking into a residence.

The complainant had locked the premises and left. A few hours later she received a call from her security company informing her that a break in had taken place at her residence. She rushed home and on arrival saw security guards had apprehended the suspect. In his possession was the complainant’s bicycle valued at R3000.

The man was arrested by the police and the bike was returned to the owner. The suspect was charged, and the case is under investigation.

Possession of drugs

ON 22 March at 11.40am, Constable Khambule arrested a man for being in possession of whoonga.

The officer was performing crime prevention duties when he saw a group of men at Dalton Road. He decided to conduct a search and found a parcel of whoonga in one of the men’s possession.

CONSTMfeka arrested a man for possession of dagga in Sydney Road on 22 March.

While performing crime prevention duties he noticed the suspect and stopped to search him.

He found a parcel of dagga, valued at R20 wrapped in newspaper in his pants pocket.

ON 24 March, Const T M Sishi arrested a man for possession of drugs.

The officer was on patrol when he noticed the suspect and decided to search him. In his pants pocket he found a small parcel of dagga mixed with heroin.

The suspect was arrested and detained, and the case is under investigation
