Vibrant new premises for Durban Chamber

The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry celebrated its move to new, larger premises.

THE Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industy hosted a cocktail evening last Thursday to celebrate its move to new premises at the Lion Match Factory.

CEO, Andrew Layman, said it was a priviledge to welcome guests to the new premises and that he was overwhelmed by the very positive comments he had received about the new space which the Chamber will occupy for years to come.

“I am thrilled to be in a new progressive premises which will hopefully make the Chamber more youthful,” he said, commenting on the bright green and blue wall colours chosen at the venue.

Akash Singh, president of the Chamber, said for a long time the Chamber had played with the thought to relocate. “We have been given a new breath of life for our new journey. We see this as a vibrant meeting place and the more people who get involved, the more vibrant the Chamber will be,” he said.

Praneel Nundkumar spoke about the premises’ conference centre which will be available to hire.

The venue can hold around 120 people at round tables and 150 people cinema style. He spoke of competitive rates as well as a cocktail area, bar, 80 available parking bays and the fact that catering and equipment would be supplied.

“We have come from 15 years in the old venue, and hope to see the next 158 years and more here in our new, young, vibrant and open setting. We thank all key people involved in making this a reality,” he said.
