Metro to monitor illegal parkers

Metro Police will monitor illegal parking in Musgrave Road.

CHURCHGOERS who park illegally around the Catholic Church and temporary mosque at the intersection of Musgrave and St Thomas Roads have been brought to the attention of Metro Police.

Local residents have raised concerns about the illegal parking outside the church and the mosque, saying motorists park at will on pavements and blocking driveways.

Ward councillor, Jethro Lefevre, said he had taken the matter up with Metro Police. “The issue of parking around the church is caused by both religions and will certainly be alleviated once the mosque is built. I’m hoping church goers will then refrain from using the pavements. I’ve requested that Metro Police place a static patrol there on Fridays to monitor the problem, but Sundays is a bit more difficult as they don’t have as many staff on shifts but they will do a drive by there to inspect and prosecute accordingly,” he said.
