Illegal booze confiscated

Cops foil illegal booze sale at the Warkwick Avenue.

POLICEMEN recovered a large plastic container full of beers early on Friday morning ahead of the long weekend.

According to Lt PN Naidoo, Metro Police conducting crime prevention in the Warwick Avenue area found the container full of Castle Lager abandoned at the taxi rank on the corner of Warwick Avenue and Mansfield Road.

“It is quite common for us and Metro Police to do crime prevention in the area as the illegal sale of alcohol is a problem there.

Much of the incidents of assault and domestic violence reported to police are attributed to alcohol abuse, according to Naidoo. He added that it was a priority to make sure no alcohol was sold to workers going home from work for the long weekend at the rank.
