Taxis still park illegally

Nothing has been done to stop taxis parking illegally in Montpelier Place.

TAXIS are still parking illegally in Montepelier Place.

This despite an article written in Berea Mail, highlighting the residents’ concerns.

Resident Grant Smith said the taxis park there all day, and that this is bringing the area down.

He said that despite complaints, no one knew who had given the drivers permission to park there, or if they had permission.

Resident, Nicky Burke, said following the article, there seemed to be something happening, as the officials had been notified, however, recently it seemed to be getting worse and the taxis were still parking in the road in their numbers.

“Nothing seems to be happening, no one seems to be doing anything,” she said.

Preggy Moodley from eThekwini Municipality said he would have law enforcement officers patrolling the playlot.

Previously, ward councillor, Martin Meyer, said there were definitely laws that govern where taxis may park and that he would contact the relevant departments to address this matter.
