Open Forum on Community Safety
Don't miss out on the Imagine Durban Community Safety open forum next Thursday evening at the Botanic Gardens for a public discussion on crime and communities.
WITH safety and security being an issue affecting all communities, the Imagine Durban team is inviting the public to a free open forum on Community Safety next Thursday, 29 May at the Botanic Gardens hall from 5pm to 7pm.
According to Imagine Durban’s Sindile Dube, the discussion is aimed at providing an opportunity to discuss the issue of Community Safety and the theme for the event is “My City, My Safety, My Responsibility.”
“With crime on the increase, communities are making active efforts to bring back the sanctity of their neighbourhoods and make them safe again,” Dube said.
With this in mind, current Community Safety forum leaders, Lyse Comins from Naybanet; Corne Brooddryk, of the Kloof Community Policing Forum and Martin Xaba, Head of the Safer Cities and Itrump Unit will do presentations on their work. This will be followed by a facilitated panel discussion with representatives from eThekwini Municipality, civil society and the business sector addressing safety challenges in the City.
All those interested in attending can call Sindile Dube on 031 311 4281 or email Sindile.dube@durban.gov.za. by 4pm on 26 May to book a seat.
