Car guards curb remote jamming theft

Car guards at Davenport Square are doing their best to make the centre a safe place to shop.

CAR guards at Davenport Square are doing their best to curb remote theft from cars at the centre.

Car guard, Baudouin Madengo, is in possession of a special jam remote which vibrates any time a fake remote jammer is used at the centre and in the nearby streets.

“We have been working with it for the past three months. When someone in the area is using a fake remote to jam shoppers’ remotes, my remote vibrates and I call the car guards at the centre on their radios and alert them to look out for any suspicious activity. We have stopped so many incidents of people stealing from cars. The thieves see the car guards are aware and run away,” he said.

Baudouin said the jam remote was very important and helped a lot in curbing this theft out of cars at the centre.

“The criminals run away when they see the security guards walking up and down looking for them. We take our job seriously and want to help the customers and make them come to the centre more often, as they will realise it is a safe place for them to park,” he said.
