Residents walk to #BringBackOurGirls
Walkers took to the streets in Glenwood in support of the search for the 234 abducted Nigerian school girls.
RESIDENTS and school pupils joined members of Umbilo SAPS and volunteers from the Victim Support Centre, as they took to the streets of Glenwood to relay the message #BringBackOurGirls.
The peaceful walk moved from Bulwer Park to the streets of Glenwood, lead by Metro Police vehicles, taking the message to all those in the area on Friday.
According to Sgt Beverly Manqele from Umbilo SAPS, the walk was in response to the media frenzy surrounding the abduction of more than 234 Nigerian school girls, in support of the search to find the girls and have them returned to their families.
When the walkers returned to Bulwer Park they were given a brief talk on human trafficking by Manqele and a short address by Ben Madokwe, Umbilo CPF chairperson.
“We wanted to show our support by hosting this walk to create awareness that we will not stop until they #BringBackOurGirls,” said Sgt Manqele.
