Forum treats school children

Children from Carrington School enjoyed a fun day last week, hosted by the Umbilo Business Forum.

MEMBERS of the Umbilo Business Forum (UBF) treated children from Carrington Primary in Umbilo to a fun day at the school last week, in support of Mandela Day.

Usha Stevens from HiQ, one of the business members of the Umbilo Business Forum earmarked Carrington School as a worthy beneficiary of social support. Children from Carrington Primary are mostly from families living below the breadline, and children from St Martin's orphanage and Durban Children's Home also attend the school.

The UBF members hosted a fun day for the children, providing food, sweets, cold drinks and gifts for them all. Other highlights of the day included face painting, a visit from Bigfoot the Clown, music and other entertainers.

Last year Usha initiated a once off food distribution for needy in the area as a pilot charity project and given its positive response and interest, decided to hold this project through the UBF.
