Crowd dances for chartiy
More than R3000 was raised to go towards building the South African Bone Marrow Registry at a Taibo and Zumbathon event.
DANCE and exercise enthusiasts from across Durban gathered to support The Sunflower Fund’s 2nd Annual Taibo and Zumbathon recently.
The event was a three hour ‘dancercise’ marathon with four instructors taking the crowd through their paces. Joined in solidarity and donning their bright and trendy Sunflower bandanas and scrunchies, the dynamic crowd was an inspiring sight to behold.
Despite the cooler temperatures and winter sniffles, there was a great vibe and spirit among the participants who rose to the challenge with great vigour and purpose. In reward for their brave efforts and kind support, there were loads of fabulous giveaways and lucky draw prizes on offer and an ecstatic Trish Bentley walked away with the prized raffle health package valued at over R2000.
Organisers of the event, Candice Maritz of Zumba Pinetown and The Sunflower Fund Durban, were thrilled with the turnout and the worthy R3096 that was raised, which will go toward building the South African Bone Marrow Registry in support of patients diagnosed with leukaemia and other life-threatening blood disorders who are searching for their 1 in 100 000 life-saving bone marrow stem cell match.
