Young leaders visit Washington

Attending the Global Young Leaders Conference will enable to Glenwood High boys to go further in their respective careers and be effective leaders.

TWO Glenwood High School pupils, Daniel Meiring and Mhlengi Radebe, recently attended the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) in Washington DC and New York.

The course seeks to equip students with the necessary leadership skills needed to become effective leaders and bring about positive change within their communities.

This is done through various workshops and lectures by guest speakers who share their own experiences and thoughts on leadership. Students are put through various simulations, taking on the role of representatives for different countries who discuss various global issues currently being debated today. The students learn how democratic processes work and get to do this in venues like the actual UN building in America.

This trip also allows students to experience the culture of these two American cities and gives them a chance to make connections with like-minded individuals from around the world.

Overall, the GYLC is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that Daniel and Mhlengi seized with both hands and will allow them to go further in their respective careers and be effective leaders.
