DURBAN Girls' College and Durban Girls' High School performed well at the annual Varsity College School Quiz hosted by the Westville and Durban North campus on Thursday 28 August.
Durban Girls' College took second place with a R25 000 school bursary and R2000 prize money and Durban Girls’ High took third place, a R10 000 school bursary and R1000 prize money.
Westville Girls’ High School finished in first place with a R50 000 school bursary as well as R4000 team prize money.
Kevin Johnson, national stakeholder manager, said: “The school quiz aims to draw students to be in touch with the world within which they interact. However the quiz would not be possible if it were not for the continued and valued support of the participating schools and sponsors.”
Sixteen local high schools and 28 teams battled it out at the Westville Country Club for the title of champion. Competing schools sent their representative team of four Grade 11 learners to try their skills and test their knowledge in the categories of general knowledge, sport, politics and business, popular culture, arts, history, literature and environmental or geography.
