Amashova road closures

Organisers of the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic urge motorists to be aware of road closures on 12 October.

THE Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic 2014 takes place on Sunday, 12 October, with three races, 106km, 65km Half Challenge and 35km Family Fun Ride, all supported by full road closures.

Now in its 28th year, the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic organisers are confident that, as with past events, residents would not only welcome and cheer on contestants but also bear with organisers and traffic authorities who will be closing the roads along the Amashova route from 4am.

The 106km will kick off outside the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 6.45am while the 65km starts at Drew Road in Cato Ridge at 5.30am and the 35km starts outside the Lillies Quarter in Old Main Road, Hillcrest also at 5.30am.

Road closure guideline times along the route are as follows:

M13 Hillcrest – M13 Westville: 4.15am to 2.45pm.

M13 Westville – M13 45th Cutting: 4.15am to 2.45pm.

N2 Outbound – Monty Naiker Street: 5am to 3.15pm.

Monty Naiker Street (Pine Street): 4am to 3.30pm.

Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (North Bound): 4am to 4pm.

For all those still wishing to take part in this extraordinary race, it is not too late. Late entries will be taken on any of the registration days at an increased fee with registration and collection of race numbers being held at Suncoast in Durban, on Thursday, 9 October between 1pm and 6pm, Friday, 10 October from 9am to 6pm, Saturday, 11 October from 9am to 4pm.
