Glenwood problem areas pointed out to metro police

Councillor Nicole Graham and residents took Metro Police on a drive-around to show them issues of concern in Glenwood.

METRO Police accompanied ward councillor Nicole Graham, Heather Rorick from Bulwer Community Safety Forum, and local resident, Helen Thompson, on a drive around Glenwood where problem areas were pointed out to police.

According to councillor Graham, the decision was made to show Metro the problem areas that residents had issues with and to point out where noise disturbances often occurred.

“We drove around with Capt Neville Govender and Supt Magan Govender from Metro Police so we could show them places which were causing noise disturbances in Glenwood, including UKZN's Camden residence. It was a quiet night because of the rain and the students are on holiday,” she said.

Graham said the police were aware of the issues, however she had referred to other issues that needed policing such as Baxter Park and the Campbell Road area, illegal parking and noise in Clark Road outside the night club, noise and parking issues in Helen Joseph Road as well as the Crart Road servitude.

“It was a nice opportunity for Metro to see from our perspective what the problems are,” she said.
