Prize-giving at DGC

Top achievers were recognised for their hard work in the classroom and on the sports field.

DURBAN Girls' College honoured its top achievers at its annual prizegiving ceremony recently.

Fiona Watt was recognised as the 2014 Dux of the school. Fiona is pictured with a statuette which dates back to the Dacomb family, members of which were also award the Dux prize at Durban Girls' College. Cheshni Jeena was the Proxime Accessit to Dux.

On Founders' Day Caitlin McIntosh was awarded the Jennifer and Deborah Wilson Prize for All-Round Contribution to College, the Elizabeth and Kate Pentecost Trophy for excellence in academics and sport and the A E Ingle Prize for English.

At the annual sports awards evening at Durban Girls' College Phillipa Meek was awarded the Junior Sportsmanship of the Year trophy, Paula Macnab the Senior Sportsmanship of the Year accolade and Nomfundvo Dlamini was named Sportswoman of the Year.

The Team of the Year Trophy was shared between the 1st hockey team and the swimming team, both of which recorded notable achievements during 2014.
