Sports court for Carrington Primary

Schools working together to help each other reaps rewards.

CARRINGTON Primary School launched the opening of its combi soccer and netball court recently.

According to Glenwood Prep principal, Louis Arde, his school submitted a request for sponsorship to Lotto on behalf of Carrington Primary School in 2010, as the school's finances were not audited.

“After being turned down many times, we hung in, and finally R200 000 was donated by Lotto to build this combi court at Carrington Primary. It is something the school won't have to maintain and the children can really have fun and play sports at school now. We have built up relationships with schools that are not empowered, and it is our way to assist these schools,” he said.

Louis said Glenwood Prep was also assisting Ensikeni School near Stanger, where Multiturf is busy building another of these courts.

“Everyone has to help each other. I feel this is a model we all need to adopt in South Africa,” he said.

All kit for the netball and soccer teams were also donated by Lotto.

Mrs Thokozani Kunene, principal of Carrington Primary, said she was very grateful for this sponsorship and for the sports court.
