Quick turnaround on pothole repairs
Residents are urged to report potholes to the municipality.
POTHOLES in Morningside are an issue of concern, says councillor Martin Meyer.
Meyer went on a street quality tour last week and reported a few problem areas, including a growing hole surrounding a water main at the intersection of Musgrave and Marriot Roads, a pothole in Innes Road and a sinkhole in Dulwich Road.
“There seems to have been an increase in potholes in the area which often seem to be due to work by various departments that are then not reported to the roads department. There is however a good turn around time from the roads department in fixing these potholes once reported,” he said.
While on an inspection with Berea Mail to view some of the potholes, Meyer was pleased to see the hole in Dulwich Road was being fixed. This was a particularly bad hole, as the road had been totally closed off to traffic. Another hole in Rosetta Road which needs attention was also noted.
Meyer advised residents to report potholes to eservices@dmws.durban.gov.za.
“If it has not been fixed in seven working days please then email the reference number to me,” he said.
