IEB matric results released

The wait is over for the 2014 IEB matric pupils.

GRADE 12 pupils who wrote the 2014 IEB examinations received their final results today.

Of the more than 10000 pupils who wrote the exams, 98.38 per cent of them passed. According to a report on ECR, the pass rate is slightly less than last year when 98.56 per cent passed.

According to Anne Oberholzer of the IEB, all pupils who passed achieved a mark that will allow them to further their studies at a tertiary level. She said 85.45 per cent achieved entry to degree study and 11.56 per cent qualified for entry to diploma study.
1.37% (compared to 1.5% in 2013) achieved entry for study at the Higher Certificate level.
Oberholzer said the IEB was pleased with the results and congratulated pupils and teachers for their hard work.
The national pass rate will be announced by Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga on 5 January.
