Matric results bring loads of smiles
Matriculants from schools in Durban were overjoyed on Tuesday when they received their exam results.
MATRICULANTS from schools in Durban were excited beyond belief on Tuesday when their exam results were released.
There were shreaks of joy and a lot of smiles on the pupils’ faces as they finally got to see how they did in the last school exams they would ever write.
Some pupils said they did better than they expected, while others said they would definitely be applying for remarks for some of their subjects.
IEB matriculants excel
A trio of St Henry’s Marist College matriculants scored highly in their Independent Examinations Board (IEB) maths exam, dropping a mere five per cent between the three of them.
Mayur Soowamber led with 99 per cent, followed neck and neck on 98 per cent by Pranav Goven and Sahil Govender.
Pranav was placed first in the St Henry’s Matric standings with an aggregate of 90 per cent and seven distinctions, three of them above 90 per cent.
On top of the world
Durban Girls’ College is enormously proud of the class of 2014 that produced a brilliant set of results in the Independent Examinations Board exams.
The pupils attained a 100 per cent pass rate of which 100 per cent were at Bachelor’s Degree level with 75 per cent of the symbols attained being As and Bs.
The dux, Fiona Watt, was placed in the top one per cent nationally in seven subjects, Cheshni Jeena in six subjects, with 18 candidates being placed in the top one per in the country in one or more subjects.
Achieving eight distinctions were Cheshni Jeena, Caitlin McIntosh, Sohini Ramsumer, Fiona Watt. An Chi Chen, Gemma Krausey, Zahraa Noorbhai, Laura Pirjol, Jiara Rama and Sana Salduker achieved seven distinctions, Michelle Alborough, Cassandra Chetty, Neoka Gounden, Catherine Hardy, Paula Macnab, Rebecca Plumbley, Lelisa Qoboshiyane and Rebecca Rodseth got six distinctions, Noor Mezghan, Jade Peterson and Navitha Singh achieved five distinctions, and Caelin Coppinger, Tessa Donnelly, Alice Ferguson, Siphumelele Makhanya, Iman Mia, Elisha Ramlagan, Olivia Robinson, Siobhan van der Vyver and Si Jia Wu got four distinctions.
