Pedestrian injured after building collapse
A woman was injured and rushed to a nearby hospital after a structural collapse in the CBD.
A pedestrian was injured on Friday afternoon after a structural collapse on Albert Street in the Durban CBD.
According to Garrith Jamieson, operations director of Rescue Care, paramedics arrived on scene to find the Durban Fire Department, SAPS Search and Rescue and Metro Police representatives in attendance.
“On assessing the scene it was found that a wall had collapsed and injured a bystander walking past the store. She was stabilised on the scene before being transported by ambulance to a nearby facility for further care,” said Jamieson.
The scene was cordoned off by the SAPS until it was declared safe.
Jamieson said it was unclear what caused the collapse but the relevant authorities would investigate.
