Buy bricks for chairty
A feeding scheme is encouraging residents to buy a brick and help to build a permanent building.
BUY a brick in support of the Sizanani Centre's building fund.
The centre is attempting to sell 10 000 bricks at R100 each to help fund the cost of building materials and building contractors.
“We would like to build our own premises. The building would have a dining room and a kitchen where we can feed the school children and the patients making use of the feeding scheme we run at the premises. We would also like to add some accommodation for the resident cook and cleaner,” said Juanita Davis, fundraiser at Sizanani.
Sizanani Centre is a feeding scheme where children who have no means of getting a meal during the day are fed. The children are mainly orphans and some households are only able to supply a meal once ever two or three days.
“We found that the children are unable to cope at school due to the lack of nutrition. We also have a clinic on the premises that supplies patients with their medication for TB and HIV/AIDS, but due to the hunger among these patients they are unable to take their medication. We are going to try and supply them with a meal while they are at the clinic,” she said.
