College girls support charity

Two Durban Girls' College girls donated the proceeds from the stall at DGC day to Umduduzi - Hospice Care for Children.

ENTERPRISING Grade 4 girls, Ruby Puterman and Georgie Denny could have kept the profits from their stall at the annual DGC day at Durban Girls’ College, but instead they decided to donate the money to a good cause.

The girls, who were selling kinetic sand, chose to donate money to Umduduzi – Hospice Care for Children, which is a non-profit organisation which provides care and support to children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses in Durban.

The girls’ parents, were so proud that their companies, TIB (Tuttle Insurance Brokers) and Durpro – Workplace Solutions, generously matched the amount raised by the two.

Dr Julia Ambler, deputy director of Umduduzi, said: “It is just wonderful to see children so willing to give. We are very grateful for the donation and as an Old Girl of the School, I am incredibly proud.”
