Feeding schemes in dire straits
The Charity Stores' feeding projects are seriously in need of funding.
NPO The Charity Stores is making a desperate appeal for donations to fund its feeding projects.
According to CEO Robert Mills, the feeding projects are seriously in need of funding and without help from the community, the organisation will have no alternative but to reduce it support to nearly 550 orphaned children currently in its program.
“This to us will be a heartbreaking exercise, as how do we select those that can still provide meals to and those that we will have to decline. Each and every child is dependent on the daily meal and there is no kind way to let them know that we just can't continue with the support until funding is received,” he said.
The community can help prevent this from happening by making a small donation of R10 (SMS The word Meal to 38208) or even R25 (The word Care to 41423).
“As we receive no funding from government or Social Development, most of the funds being used for the projects have come from our self-sustaining charity stores and other contributing donors but due to load shedding, the poor economy and public holidays, the turnover in the charity stores has dropped substantially and has led to the situation we now find ourselves in,” said Robert.
