First Day: Laughter, smiles and a bit of butterflies

With any butterflies settled, the children smiled and engaged their new teachers as they busied themselves with a day full of fun, friends and school work.

AS thousands of little learners entered ‘big school’ for their first day around Durban this morning, it was only smiles and happy little faces waving goodbye to their more anxious mothers.

Jenna Shrives a grade one teacher at Holy Family College, said she was relieved that this was the first year she did not have any tears in grade one. “After four years of first days with the grade ones, it was a relief and stress free morning having every child walk in happy,” she added.

Kammy Moodley, mother of twins Kellen and Kaden was very nervous on the boys first day. “”I was very emotional and a bit stressed about them being separated as Kaden always relies on his little brother a lot, but very happy as they were so excited about their first day.”

With any butterflies settled, the children smiled and engaged their new teachers as they busied themselves with a day full of fun, friends and school work.
