What's on in and around Durban this week.

UMBILO Congregational Church, 498 Bartle Road, Umbilo, will host Wally's Braai on Friday 29 January at 5.30pm, where you can buy wors rolls, steak rolls and burgers. There is a fleamarket on Saturday 30 January from 7am to noon.

SAVF Jennett Smit will host a night market on Friday 29 January from 5pm at 279 Manning Road, Glenwood.

THE Happiness Course, a meditation programme for everyone, runs every Saturday morning at 10.30am to noon at 26 Menston Road, Westville.

THE Morning Trade – Durban's weekly artisan food and produce market is every Sunday from 8am to 1pm at The Plant – 5 Station Drive, Station Drive Precinct, Durban.

THE Champagne, Ice-cream and Balloons event will take place on Sunday 31 January from 3.30pm for 4pm at Artisan Gallery, 344 Florida Road.

This is a fun event which marks the start of the gallery's annual sale. Deliciously decadent ice-cream with an assortment of toppings can be washed down with bubbly while you chat to friends and select from all the beautiful items on display.

At this event all purchases will qualify for a lucky discount voucher, which is your special sale discount and only valid for one day.

The sale will run until Saturday 13 February.

LEARN to meditate at a course beginning on Monday, 1 February at 39 Maze Road, Glenwood, from 6.30pm to 8pm.

JOIN the Sydenham Reading Club on Tuesday, 2 February. The group meets every Tuesday at the newly renovated Sparks Estate Library in St Theresa’s Road in Sydenham. The theme this year is Let’s Read.

THE Annual General Meeting of the University of the 3rd Age is on Wednesday 3 February at 9am for 9.30am in the Glenwood Presbyterian Church hall (entrance in Evans Road).

Guest speaker will be Jane Troughton who will talk about her Gorgeous Green House: an ordinary Durban North house that has been replaced by a stunning modern home that is totally energy and water efficient.

FREE public talks are given by the Theosophical Society on the first Sunday of every month at 306 Avondale Road, Morningside, Durban from 10am.
