Putting Durban in the international spotlight

Durban Girls’ High School's principal Erica Hayes-Hill is putting Durban on the map, as she heads to the National Coalition of Girls' Schools' Forum in New York.

ON behalf of the South African Girls’ Schools Association, Durban Girls’ High School's principal Erica Hayes-Hill and Cally Maddams from Danville Park Girls’ High School have been invited to present a break-away session at the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools’ Forum in New York.

These dynamic Durban principals’ presentation explores the value of all-girls schools in the South African context and their contribution to providing outstanding education for the girls who attend such schools and achieve between 96% to 100% Bachelors passes annually.

This is a trend that requires a huge amount of effort to maintain but they remember that there is always room for improvement. They believe in developing girls not only in the academic fields but also through leadership opportunities, sport and cultural activities.

Delegates from 20 countries will be gathering in New York to share best practice in all-girls education within the theme: “Creating a World of Opportunities”.

In a world that sometimes thinks South Africa doesn’t achieve much, this is a great opportunity for them to spread their stories of success and put Durban on the map with internationally recognised schools.
