BLUE Security working with police and a local business owner, arrested two housebreakers at the weekend.
Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, said an armed response officer had responded to a panic alarm at a property in Lancaster Road in Musgrave at 10.13am on Saturday.
“The resident heard noises at the back of the property. When he went out to investigate he found the metal garage door had been damaged,” he said.
Jackson said housebreakers had shoved a rock under the bottom of the door in an attempt to force it open but must have been disturbed by the alarm.
He said the officer arrived on the scene, along with another resident who had seen the housebreaker tampering with the door. He pointed out where the suspect was hiding.
“Our officer arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Berea SAPS,” he said.
Jackson said an alleged serial housebreaker was arrested in Helen Joseph Road after he was spotted on CCTV cameras trying to break into a business premises in Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road just before 5am on Sunday. “The business owner approached his premises and saw the suspect walking down Cohen Avenue towards Brand Road. He told him to stop but the suspect fled and he gave chase,” Jackson said.
Jackson said the suspect fell and injured his head and the business owner arrested him.
“Provincial paramedics treated him for his injuries before transporting him to a local hospital,” he said.
Jackson added that the suspect had also allegedly been spotted on CCTV breaking into the property on two previous occasions.
