DURBAN Girls' High School held its junior prizegiving recently, in which 2015 achievers are celebrated.
The school welcomed Lisa Greese, owner of Ubuntu HR consultants, who inspired the young women to make a difference and use their skills to change this country.
Trophy winners were Ammara Vaid and Terisha Pillay, who shared the Art Trophy for Grade 10 in 2015 and Devanya Govender and Chantelle Labuschagne were awarded the Knight Trophy, which recognises a learner who selflessly gives of her time and talent to better uplift the community in which she lives.
Akalka-Kiyoshi Dayaram received the UKZN Trophy for the highest mark in mathematics and physical science as well as the Price Waterhouse Coopers Trophy for accounting. Maxine Khumalo was awarded the Architects Collaborative Science Prize for an intelligent learner with a sharp analytical mind.
Girls also received trophies for the best all-rounder academic and sport for the year. Marie Venter received the Michelle Douglas Trophy for Grade 8 in 2015, Megan Wilkenson achieved the Sandra Hardman Trophy for Grade 9 in 2015, Stephanie Berry got the Norelle Barnes Trophy for Grade 10 in 2015 and Natalie Meaker wa awarded the Swift Trophy for Grade 11 in 2015.
