Dylan pins hopes on skiing for SA in Italy

Help sponsor a waterskier's trip overseas to take part in an international competition.

LOCAL waterskier, Dylan Lowe, will be flying to Recetto, Italy in August to represent South Africa for the first time.

He will be awarded his South African colours along with his Green South African blazer on his return.

According to Carol Lowe from KZN Water Skiing Federation, water skiing is a high impact sport where the boat drives through the centre yellow buoys and the skier has to go around the outer red buoys.

“The skier has to get up to the speed for their age category and then they begin to shorten the rope making it harder and harder to get out to the buoys. A skier’s score is based upon the number of successful buoys cleared, the speed of the boat, and the length of the rope,” she said.

Dylan is currently running the course at 58km per hour and is down to four buoys on a 12m rope length.

Carol is appealing to the community to help make Dylan’s dream come true to be able to travel overseas and represent the country.

“The trip to Italy will cost over R40 000. We are looking for people to help sponsor or make donations to help Dylan fly the South African flag,” she said.
