Beachfront restaurant goes up in flames

A well-known restaurant on the beachfront caught alight in the early hours of this morning.

A RESTAURANT at Durban Beachfront caught fire in the early hours of this morning, 1 May.

According to Andreas Mathios, marketing and community liaison for Blue Security, the Blue Security Control room received multiple one activation alerts from Surf Riders restaurant and an officer responded for what seemed like an alarm activation.

“Upon his arrival minutes later, he found and detected the premises on fire. The Durban Fire department was requested to attend,” he said.

Mathios said it is unclear how the fire started but a full investigation will be conducted.
