Rotary jersey project keeps kids warm
The community is encouraged to donate towards buying wool for the Rotary Club of Durban's jersey project.
THE Rotary Club of Durban is encouraging the public to donate towards buying wool for the Rotary Anns’ jersey project.
The Club raises funds to purchase wool for the Durban Rotary Anns which passes it on to a group of knitters who knit jerseys which are then handed out to the needy to keep them warm through the winter months.
The Rotary Anns currently have a team of about 15 knitters who, over the last year, have knitted in excess of 200 jerseys and beanies. The knitters are all senior citizens, some of whom have supported the project for more than five years.
The club has appealed to any persons who would like to contribute to the purchase of the wool to contact President Jimmy Lee on 082 491 9994 or Mike Hiron on 082 551 9443.
The Club would also like to hear from community members of any deserving cases of children aged from 12 months to 8 years, in needy communities, who qualify to receive donations of jerseys and beanies. Communities in the Glenwood, Berea and surrounding areas will get preference.
