AFROFUTURISM is the theme for the seventh Durban Fashion Fair at the ICC this weekend, 19 to 22 September featuring over 40 designers from all over Africa. The four-day fashion extravaganza is part of the 20th Durban Business Fair.
Emerging designers showcase their work on 20 September followed on 21 and 22 September by couture designers including LT Peculiar Couture, Nivaldo Thierry, Samma Collections, Clemas Couture, House of Saint Luke, Eullue and KarenMonkKlijnstra, Quame Owusu, Chulaap, Treasure Cindi and Zarth.
The final day 22 September sees Zaviar Fashions, Plus Supreme Collections, Black Pepper, and the DFF Fashion Recognition Awards.The panel discussion, “Building a brand in the Fashion Industry,” is in the ICC’s Hall 1 on Friday, September 21 between 9.30am and 12 noon featuring leading industry players Sasha Wyatt-Minter, Dimeji Alara, Masana Chikeka, Nthato Mashishi and Mandy Swart. The panel will be followed by a Q&A session facilitated by TV personality Anele Mdoda. Panel admission is free.
Anele Mdoda will also host the 2018 DFF Recognition Awards on Saturday, 22 September.

This glamorous evening will recognise the Durban Fashion Legend of the year, the Best Ladies’ Wear Collection, the Best Menswear Collection, the Next Generation/ Emerging Durban Designer of the year, the Fashion Innovator and the Collection of the Week. Three rising stars, the top three 2018 mentees, will also be celebrated. The Fashion Business Award, the DFF New Faces Award, the Best African Designer Collection Award and the Durban Designer of the Year Award will wrap up the evening.
Tickets are R100 per person per show, students are R50 per show (19/20/21). For the Recognition Awards (22) tickets are R200 per person, students are R100. Tickets can be purchased at webtickets.co.za or at your nearest Pick n Pay.
