Hijackers strike in Umbilo area

Blue Security attended the scene of two hijackings in Umbilo this week.

TWO hijacking incidents in Umbilo this week have prompted Blue Security to issue an alert to residents in the area to be vigilant.

In the first incident, a Carrington Heights resident was hijacked while parking her vehicle outside a property in Kennard Rise on 22 October.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the woman had just arrived home when hijackers held her up. The incident occurred at around 7.25pm.

“The resident was busy parking her car outside the garage when two armed men approached her on foot and hijacked her of her vehicle.”

“The hijackers fled in her vehicle which also contained her cellphone, bank cards, wallet and laptop. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
