Author launches sixth book
Cyril James will launch his book Chains of Friendship at the Durban Book Fair on Sunday.
ACCOMPLISHED Durban author Cyril James will launch his sixth book at the Durban Book Fair on Sunday, 3 February at Mitchell Park.
The book Chains of Friendship deals with the journey of Lizzie, a Coloured woman who suffers at the hands of both her son and husband.
Cyril James was born in Durban and as a teenager left home to seek his fortune at sea. He suffered many hardships over the years. A life-long avid reader, he had the urge to write about his life and Wentworth, the community he lives in.

When he retired, Cyril started writing about the lives of the people around him. He married Linda at the age of forty and the couple had one child who sadly passed away. Now, the main joys in his life are Linda and the laptop that he sits at to do his writing.
The Durban Book Fair takes place on the first Sunday of every month at Mitchell Park from 10am to 3pm and aims to build a reading culture in Durban and give local writers a platform to market their books. There will be music in the park by Westville Girls’ High and a chess event hosted by Durban Chess Club. This is a free event and the public is urged to attend. Contact Anivesh Singh on 083 778 1991.
