Church hosts pancake extravaganza

The event will be at Musgrave Methodist Church Hall on Tuesday.

MUSGRAVE Methodist Church will host a pancake extravaganza on Shrove Tuesday, 5 March from 4pm to 7pm.

Shrove Tuesday is the night before Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of Lent and is traditionally the last day of decadent eating before the abstemious fasting 40 day period of Lent commences. It was traditional in many societies to eat pancakes or other foods made with the butter, eggs and fat that would be given up during the Lenten season.

The church is appealing for donations towards this event. Items needed include Coke, Fanta, bottled water, eggs, white flour (not self raising), tubs of coconut oil, tubs of Nutella spread, full cream milk or cash for purchasing ingredients. All proceeds from this event will go to the ‘new church roof fund.’ For more info, contact the church office on 031 201 2005.
