Florida Road team makes a difference
In the seven weeks of this year, the team has made one arrest, found and returned two items of lost property and stood by nine vehicles that have been found unlocked or with a window down until the owners have returned.
THE Florida Road UIP management team and security officers are proving they are ready for any challenges that arise.
Last week Florida Road UIP Security Supervisor Sbusiso Xulu noticed a vehicle drive off leaving a backpack and laptop on the pavement. He quickly moved to recover the bags and took them to precinct manager Jarrod Evans. Thankfully, the team was able to track down an extremely grateful owner and return his possessions.
This level of attentiveness to Florida Road and its users is what drives the management team and its service providers as they attend to the many challenges that come with managing public open space.

In the seven weeks of this year alone, the team has made one arrest, found and returned two items of lost property and stood by nine vehicles that have been found unlocked or with a window down until the owners returned. And its not just the security patrol team who care for the place. So far thisyear, in addition to daily street cleaning, the UIP cleaning team of three have removed 23 graffiti tags, undertaken five special area maintenance projects and removed just over 2 500 bags of refuse from the precinct.
“There is always more that can be done, a better level of service that can be offered and a longer list of projects to tick off, so we stay focused, manage the curve balls that often come hurtling towards us, and remain dedicated to improving the experience of Florida Road for all its users,” said Evans.
