New album for Durban muso
Musician, Dave Wright, will launch his third album on Saturday.
DURBAN musician, Dave Wright, will launch his third album, Kiss the Sky, at Jackie Horner Pub, Helen Joseph Road, Glenwood, on Saturday, 30 March at 6pm.
Dave will perform along with local artists Richard Ellis and Tiffany Sheppard. Copies of the album will be available to purchase.
“I’m very happy with the finished product. This is my third album, following on from the release of my last album entitled Tomorrow in 2017. The new album consists of nine original acoustic songs and has been mastered by Mastering World in Wales,” he said.
Dave is well-known on the local music scene and has been playing music for the past 30 years. His musical inspirations have been Alice In Chains, Dream Theater and Neil Young, although he has a wide musical taste and listens to a lot of different music.

“My music is all in the third person and I get inspiration for writing songs from a lot of different things. I write all the time and when I think I have enough songs, I record an album. It’s a pretty efficient process and we see the finish line pretty soon. I had a recording session in November where we got the basis down, and we cleaned up the album in December. It’s then the final mixes and it’s done!” he said.
Fanatic about promoting local musicians, he encourages the community and musicians to support live music events in Glenwood.
A ‘Local Folk’ event takes place at Berea Bowling Club on the last Friday of every month from 6pm to 10pm. Secure parking is available, and there is also live acoustic music on the third Saturday of the month at Three Monkeys, Glenwood Village Market, from 11am to 2pm. There is no cover charge. Contact Dave on 083 353 6925.
Dave’s new album is available at Guru Girl, in Brand Road, Glenwood, and at Glenwood Village Music.
