Durban cell mast alliance calls for objections

THE Durban Anti-Cell Mast Alliance (DACMA) invites the public, who wish to object to the retrospective legitimisation of the MTN masts in Durban, to start following the objection steps on the DACMA Facebook page.
This comes after MTN’s call for the public to participate in an application approval process in an effort to reach a solution for network infrastructure located on 56 sites in the Durban area.
Niki Moore, spokesperson for DACMA, said a perusal of the application lodged with Land Use Management has turned up a number of anomalies and contradictions.
She said what MTN is asking the public to permit is very far from what they have already done in Durban.

“It is almost comical to see the legal and semantic gyrations that MTN is currently twisting themselves into in order to comply with the law. As it now stands, compliance is absolutely impossible, and it looks as if they will have to go back to the drawing board, admit they tried to pull a fast one, and start all over again. It might mean that some of these masts will be demolished. We can only hope so, as many of them have brought huge misery to the people of Durban,” she said.
