Weather warning: Gale force winds predicted
SAWS has warned of gale force winds expected from around midnight.
Damaging Winds are expected from 00h00 to 24h00 on 21 May 2019.
The South African Weather Services has issued a warming of gale force south-westerly winds of 35 knots which are expected from the south coast of KZN around midnight, spreading to Kosi Bay by tomorrow afternoon.
Ethekwini Municipality urges residents to be aware of sudden cross winds if traveling, especially between buildings, fallen trees or power lines and flying debris. Residents are advised not to start open fires.
Residents of informal settlements are advised to secure their dwellings and to apply fire safety regulations.
Small boats must avoid open seas and seek shelter at a Harbour, river estuary or protected bay. Parked aircraft should be pointed into the direction of the wind and secured.
