Take on charity hike

Challenge yourself to an extraordinary hike from Sani Pass border post to the Lesotho Drakensberg border post.

THE 12th annual Sunflower Jade Sky Hike takes place on Sunday, 16 June at Sani Pass from 7.30am.

Challenge yourself to an extraordinary hike of about 16km from Sani Pass border post to the Lesotho Drakensberg border post, in memory of Jade Preston who died of leukaemia at the age of nine.

The hike appeals to outdoor and hiking enthusiasts as well as families and individuals of all ages and fitness levels. The aim of the event is to celebrate life, and to remember those who are challenged by cancer.

The group will meet at the Sani Pass border, two hours from Pietermaritzburg, at 7.30am. High clearance vehicles are required. The 4X4 Club will offer lifts from Himeville (contact events@midlands4x4.co.za). Hikers leave the border post at 8am to hike to the Lesotho border post and return by 4pm.

Take refreshments and your passport. The cost is donation-based, with a minimum of R120 per hiker. Contact Ian and Mandy Tyrer on mandytyrer@vodamail.co.za or 082 459 6095.
