Take part in tree decorating project
It’s competition time again for all businesses along Helen Joseph Road.
IF you live or work in Glenwood, then you don’t want to miss the opportunity to decorate one of the trees along Helen Joseph Road as part of the Bulwer Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum’s (BSURF) Christmas project.
Widely regarded as the most visited road in the area, not just by locals but visitors too, Heather Roos and fellow members of the BSURF are encouraging businesses, schools and local residents to get into the festive spirit of the season and help add some Christmas magic to the area by decorating a tree which can incorporate your family name or the name of your business.
Businesses are also invited to add their decorating flair to their building premises.

Two schools in the area, Durban Primary School and Glenmore Primary School, have already accepted the challenge and have adopted one of the trees and festooned it with handcrafted decorations.
There is a floating trophy prize for the school who wins for the best decorated tree and for the best decorated businesses.
On Saturday, the schools’ trees were judged by Patrick Cira from Woolworths, Jenny Stephenson from Badgers, Temaine Houghton from Keys, Farai Guveya from Roco Mamas and Lt Col Stanley Perumall from Umbilo SAPS.

If you want to take part, make sure you have your own stepladder, hammer, nails, fabric to wrap the trees, homemade decorations, string and drawingpins to attach the decorations to the fabric.
Remember, decorations must be weatherproof and will have to be removed around 10 or 12 January.
