App needed for placement of learners at schools
The DA welcomes the launch of an App which seeks to make it easier for qualified teachers without work to find employment but feels an App is also needed to aid learners.

EDITOR – The Democratic Alliance welcomes the launch of an App by the KwaZulu-Natal Education Department which seeks to make it easier for qualified teachers without work to find employment. Any initiative aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning and getting educators into classrooms more quickly – without the usual impediments – has the DA’s approval.

What we now need to see from MEC Kwazi Mshengu and his officials is an electronic system for the placement of learners at schools within our province. Every year, this is an issue that reaches crisis point, causing much anguish for both parents and learners. The DA believes that haste must be made to start and then pilot such an App – particularly in the Pinetown, Umlazi and Umgungundlovu areas.
The DA will punt this idea to the MEC as soon as our interaction is scheduled. If the App can be developed for teachers, then it can be developed for parents and learners.
