Durban police find R900k worth of drugs inside car tyre
The drugs were found concealed inside the vehicle door pad and in a spare tyre.

POLICE in Durban busted a driver with R900 000 worth of drugs in a sting operation.
The drugs were found concealed in a spare tyre and inside the vehicle door pad.
The driver was also found with R41 050 cash in his possession.
Police said they caught the driver after receiving information about a suspect who was transporting the drugs to Durban central.
“The suspect’s vehicle was spotted at the corner of Dr Pixley kaSeme and Russel Street. The suspect immediately sped off upon seeing the police officers. A chase ensued and the suspect was intercepted with the assistance of the Durban Flying Squad,” said Captain Nqobile Gwala, South African Police spokesperson.

Gwala said a search was conducted inside the vehicle and police found 2,71kgs of pure heroin and 1,420kgs of crystal meth with a street value of R900 000.

The 34-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of drugs and will be appearing in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the arrest of the drug dealer.
“This arrest proves that we are determined to creating a safer festive season for everyone,” he said.
