Durban SAPS nabs housebreaking suspect in hospital
It is alleged that in December last year a man was asleep in his flat when the suspect broke in and stole his cellphone, bank cards and clothing.
A MAN appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 January on charges of housebreaking and theft following his arrest by Durban Central SAPS detectives on 16 January.
Commenting on the case, Sgt Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS said on 16 January officers from the Durban Central Detectives Tracing Team followed up on information of a housebreaking and theft case that took place in December.

“It is alleged that during December last year a man was asleep in his flat when the suspect broke in and stole his cellphone, bank cards and clothing. A case of housebreaking and theft was opened at Durban central. A thorough investigation was conducted which led to the viewing of CCTV footage which showed the suspect in one of the garages in the CBD using the victim’s card. A vehicle that was used was also traced,” said Khomo.
The owner of the vehicle assisted with the investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect who was identified while in hospital.
“The suspect was charged for housebreaking and theft and made his first appearance in court on Monday morning. Members were applauded by Durban Central management for this outstanding arrest,” said Khomo.
