Durban author launches seventh book

Cyril James will launch his book Austerville Shutdown Of Fear, at the Blue Roof Centre on Sunday.

TALENTED Durban author, Cyril James (75) is set to launch his seventh book at the Blue Roof Centre, on Sunday, 20 June at 14.00.

James’ careful use of creative words and relatable terms paint the picture of the early 50s when the Mobil Oil Refinery was established in Durban.

The book title is Austerville Shutdown Of Fear ,a heart-gripping story of a young woman’s journey through life in Austerville in Wentworth.

Ethel’s fears are misunderstood by the community she lives in and this makes her feel more insecure.

She’s married to a man with a thirst for the finer things in life at all costs. In a tragic turn of events, Ethel has to confront the fears that have gripped her for many years.

“She has to make choices that will determine her future. “It is based on a true story showing how social stigma and discrimination complicate mental health problems for those who live with it,” explained James.

James has seven self-published books to his name to date. He was awarded the Feather Quill Award for meritorious contribution to literature, arts and culture in 2019 by the Durban Book Fair.
