The City says symptoms such as itchy, swollen and/or red eyes or excessive tearing should not be ignored.
This statement comes a month after the City announced the outbreak of pink eye as many health facilities around the city reported cases. Pink eye is the inflammation or infection of the outer membrane of the eyeball and inner lid.

Pink eye can be spread by close contact with someone who has the virus or by touching contaminated surfaces.
According to medical experts, the virus can be treated with over-the-counter medication or by letting it pass by itself, but they encourage the washing of hands regularly.
