Explore Durban’s Pavilion Shopping Centre this festive season
Pavilion Shopping Centre general manager Vicky Deppe shares the variety of festive activities available this season for families to enjoy.
THE Pavilion Shopping Centre has promised a summer filled with endless fun and adventure for its shoppers this festive season.
Physically an iconic landmark in Westville, the centre is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most popular and respected centres for shopping, leisure and entertainment. It is situated close to major access points and is well-placed and easily accessible for residents and visitors from various suburbs in the greater Durban catchment area. Vicky Deppe, a general manager at the centre, says the centre offers a comprehensive mix of retail, entertainment, leisure and dining options. The centre also offers services like the Department of Home Affairs, bringing services closer to the surrounding community.

She says, “Evening visits to the rooftop will see the iconic Dome light up in festive colours to capture the season, which is worth seeing. Our Christmas decorations throughout the centre are just fantastic, and we have worked hard to provide a leisure and retail experience for our shoppers, which we truly believe is the best we can offer.”
Deppe highlights that they have curated a variety of festive activities this season for families to enjoy. “The Workshop of Wonders Kiddies’ Activation will keep the kids entertained for hours; plus, we are hosting a free concert by the KZN Philharmonic on December 15 and 22 from 18:00. We are supporting NGOs where we can, for example, have gift wrapping stations at the centre as a fundraiser for St Martin’s Diocesan Home for Children in Glenwood,” she reveals.
She says shoppers and holidaymakers can enjoy getting together with friends and family to create new memories at any of the 40 restaurant/food options available at the centre. Deppe adds, “The newly developed dining experience on the rooftop offers a lifestyle dining experience set among the iconic main Dome, with KZN’s favourite restaurants, such as Tiger’s Milk, Mozambik, Olive and Oil, the newly opened Old Town Italy, and opening in December, Elephant & Co. Shoppers can also visit Exclusive Books and grab a coffee at Vida e Caffe, all conveniently located under the Dome.”

She also mentions that there is a range of leisure family activities such as adventure golf, a fun splash pad on the rooftop for the kids, Galaxy Bingo, the Fun Company, Karting KZN and Nu-Metro cinemas presenting an international line-up of mainstream movies. There is also a cute mini-train on the cinema level on offer for kids to enjoy.
Deppe assures a safe shopping environment for shoppers. “We pride ourselves in providing a safe shopping experience for our customers and encourage our shoppers to be vigilant, too. Make sure your car is locked and nothing of value is visible; always keep mobile devices on your person; be mindful of banking security protocols; don’t let valuables, and that includes children, out of your sight. The team has increased the security complement for the festive season to ensure a safe shopping environment,” she concludes.
