Badminton SA (BSA) president Antonie Jacobs said, “Badminton in South Africa at junior level showed excellent growth over the past year due to the passion for the sport shown by the BSA junior and high-performance committees. Junior badminton is essential for the growth of competitive badminton in South Africa and the feeding ground for our national age group squads. If junior badminton is healthy then the whole federation is healthy. Our aim is to increase the numbers in badminton and to ensure that the sport is growing, which all starts with our juniors.”

Aiden Dednam (Free State) beat his younger brother Charltin in the boys’ final, and the girls’ trophy was lifted by Chidvi Panjala (JDBA) who beat fellow club member Michelle Wen. The mixed doubles winners were Aiden Dednam and Melay Pretorious.
