Chillie lines up hot 5km and 10km challenges

The Chillie Running Club is gearing up to host the hottest race in town, the Chillie Lifestyle 10km and 5km, on Sunday, June 15. There’s only one day to go for online entries.

THE KZN racing calendar is getting hotter this long weekend with the Chillie Lifestyle 10km and 5km races set to get runners moving on Sunday, June 15.

Running for the third year in a row, race director, Siyanda Sibiya, reminded those who wish to be part of the challenge that there is only one day left for online entries. He said, “The Chillie Lifestyle 10km and 5km race is the fun and excitement that is needed straight after the Comrades Marathon. We are among the best 10km races in KZN and countrywide. Our exciting goodie bag continues to elevate and raise the bar annually and 2025 will be no exception.”

The race starts and finishes at Kings Park Athletics Stadium – 07:00 for the 10km challenge and 07:20 for 5km. The start is outside Kings Park Athletic Stadium, at the corner of Isaiah Ntshangase Road and NMR Avenue or Masabalala Yenqwa Avenue. “All race finishers will receive medals. We also have an exciting R5000 prize money up for grabs,” said Sibiya.

The Chillie Running Club is affiliated in five provinces across SA. Its founding principles include the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

“Chillie Running Club remains one of the best – if not the most selfless club – to other members and runners due to the immense support always offered. This remains one of the club’s unique selling points and how the clubs remain to be known throughout running circles. We are looking forward to a great turnout this weekend, and calling all runners, professional or otherwise, to join us for this hot race around Durban,” said Sibiya.

Entry for the 10km is R220 (if applicable, additional R70 for temporary licence). The 5km run is R160 (if applicable, an additional R70 is required for a temporary licence). Race pack collection is Friday, June 13, from 10:00 to 19:00. On Saturday, June 14, the collection times are 09:00 and 17:00 at the Southern Sun – Elangeni Meeting Room.
